Hi. I’m wondering what’s the most efficient way to quickly create a decently stylized scene with a number of objects.

I created a scene in Google Sketchup, and exported it as an OBJ file. If I drop a Camera in the scene and render it, it looks like this:

How can I efficiently give all of these buildings enough texture and (perhaps) randomly different colors so that it looks at least passably interesting. It can be totally cartoony like this:

    Or something similarly simple.

    Does that make any sense?

Thanks for any and all help,
    Phil McCarty

If you texture the buildings in SU and export as fbx, the textures should come into Cinema. Otherwise, short of texturing each building separately, you could try using a noise shader with cell noise in the color or luminance channel to simulate windows. If you have the Sketch & Toon module you can create the cartoon-like effect. Or you could add floor and sky objects and use global illumination to create a clay-type render.

    Hi Adam,

Could you help me with a problem I have rendering text. When I render extruded text the render engine only renders the extrude node. the front and back face of the text aren’t included in the render

any ideas as to why that might be happening?

    John
