weird…it seems my system should be set up right, but something must be awry.
My kona is also in slot 2. Its always been there…works fine for FCP and other apps.
I use the Conflict checker whenever i upgrade the Kona drivers.

The one thng i have just noticed is that the AJA control panel does not say its being controlled by After Effects – a little red message on the control panel reads “Aja device in use by App(QT32)”…i thought AE would have been mentioned (and isn’t it supposed to be 64bit?)

I think you’re right – time to contact AJA.

    thanks guys

    Thanks Kevin,

    no luck i’m afraid!

I dont use the Adobe Aja plug-in because it caused all sorts of weirdness – it was AJA themselves who told me not to use it!

My BM is pal – 625i/25 only, so all my outputs on the AJA control panel are set that way. AEs video Preview is also set the same way.

I have always been able to do realtime playback of previews…but that is not what i want..I want to be able to see the interactions themselves, so if move a text layer, i can watch it moving on the BM in real time, at the moment It will only move on the computer screen, until i let go of the pen or mouse button and only then will the BM refresh.

It maybe that what i want is not possible….but Adobes own help file suggests it should be
    – “Interactions – Displays interactive previews—such as scrubbing in the Timeline panel or dragging in the Composition panel—on the computer screen and simultaneously on the external monitor.”

    thanks for the help though!

not that simple i’m afraid…Live Preview works fine on the computer screen.

The reason i want to be able to see real time adjustments on the broadcast monitor is because there are safe area markers on my screen to indicate places where overlaid station icons go.

I’d like to be able to position some things by watching the broadcast screen instead of the computer screen. At the moment i can’t do that very easily.

ben – its not the Basic Motion but the Distort attributes you need to paste in.

That way any scale or position changes wont be affected, only the aspect ratio.

September 17, 2010 at 11:37 am in reply to: Interted text – Real time inversion!

assuming your using FCP, you want to create your text as white on black, and position then position the text layer so that it is sandwiched between two layers of moving video on the timeline.

The layer you want to fill the text goes on top, the main video video be on the bottom.
CTRL click on the top layer and set the composite mode to Travel Matte Alpha.

that’s it – picture in text.

September 6, 2010 at 1:18 pm in reply to: FCP to Compressor question

following on from your reply Rob, i’ve done some more tests and know what i did wrong.

if anyones interested, sending to Compressor from fcp will use the in/out points…however, once in Compressor i made the mistake of dragging the various clips into one batch window, applying the different settings to the various clips and submitting. Thats causes Compressor to lose the in/out point info and instead it renders the entire clip instead of the bit you set with I/O points.

So as long as you don’t move a clip from its own batch window, it should export correctly when you apply your settings.

September 6, 2010 at 12:06 pm in reply to: FCP to Compressor question

Export Queue is fcp’s built in batch exporter.

I have everything setup as i need in Compressor – thats not the problem…i need to send different sections of the timeline to different folders, at different settings. I found that compressor ended up with the same in/out points regardless of how i had set them prior to sending from FCP.

I’ll try again – maybe my fault!

September 1, 2010 at 2:26 pm in reply to: Mograph 2 Dynamics questions

Adam – i can’t replicate the effect as you suggest.

I’m wondering if what i need to do is too complicated for the Mograph module (I don’t have the dynamics module).

I cannot get any object to work with a rigid body tag unless it is in a cloner object.

If i put just the rigid body tag on the trolley, then the boxes fall straight through it.
If i try just the RB tag on a sphere to act as as a trigger – it passes straight through the cloner object that it is supposed to trigger with no interaction – unless i set the cloner objects collision type to immediate…which kind of defeats the point of having the on collision option!

or have i completely misunderstood some underlying principle here?
