    Hi, i was trying to write and describe what I have been trying to do but luckily i found a video that has already done it. Basically i am trying to accomplish the same text effect as this video in the link does at the start.

    assuming your using FCP, you want to create your text as white on black, and position then position the text layer so that it is sandwiched between two layers of moving video on the timeline.

    The layer you want to fill the text goes on top, the main video video be on the bottom.
    CTRL click on the top layer and set the composite mode to Travel Matte Alpha.

    that’s it – picture in text.
