off the top of my head, I think you need to do them individually………you can’t paste attributes >< not nice, I know, I've been there an alternative is to apply the glow via Track Motion. You won't be able to tweak the properties as much, but is an option. also, you could save one instance as a preset within the text generator, then open the 2nd subtitle, copy the text already there, apply the preset (which will replace the text) then do Ctrl A, Ctrl V, and move on the the next subtitle. You won't have to close the text generator window in each case, just open each time. have fun 😉

also, within the text tool, you could apply a black glow, with whatever amount of blurring/size you prefer, to make the subtitles stand out, and avoid the use of a proper lower third. Works like an outlining.

or just add Drop Shadow to the subtitle track via Track Motion, but the glow usually works better.

and if I hadn’t done much work in the way of cropping / track motion / effects, I’d simply save the file as AAF, and open that in AE. No rendering, no recompression, no time spent, no nothing

You asked about Mac simply being a turn-on-and-use setup. Well, have a browse on the FCP et al forums. That should give you a flavour of the experiences by the converted.

FWIW, my experience is that in the world of video production, owning a mac is NO guarantee of stability. At all. Am not trying to launch a MC/PC debate, which is why I recommend browsing their forums for yourself.

well, there is another quick way:

1) select all the pics on the timeline
2) make sure EDIT DETAILS is visible (View menu)
3) all pics will be visible in Edit Details, Highlight the LENGTH property from the top to the bottom, i.e. of all the pics
4) type a number e.g. 4.00
5) press ENTER

or are you talking about getting rid of the black background within the picture, to make it transparent, so that your white bottom track is revealed?

if so, you need to have the image saved with an alpha channel (usually PNG or PSD), and access it by right clicking / Properties / Media / Alpha Channel and change it to straight or Premultiplied

nutshell: edit in the HD codec, then render out to the SD format required.

either drag a button from the buttons tab on to the menu, then change its properties (top right pane) to point to the media you require

OR

drag n drop the mpeg/Ac3 files from your explorer directly on to the menu page and the button will be made for you. You can update it’s appearance afterwards if you want, again by changing the relevant properties etc

common problem.
ok, you can’t link from the end of a scene selection (eg chapter 2 of 3 chapters) back to any menu. All the scene selection does is specify where to start – just like a commercial DVD.

so, the solution?

you need to add the media for each chapter to the menu page multiple times (but will only be added to DVD once, physically).
Then double click one of the chapters, and it should open the timeline for that media.
Drag the yellow In and Out markers on the timeline to limit viewing to that chapter

you can then specify the End Action for that chapter

You’ll be able to adjust the thumbnail for each chapter, too.
