well, FWIW, it does do the vegs. churned through 10 last night, and crashed on the 11th. annoying.

have to create effect in PI, then render out with alpha channel, and bring into vegas as clip

change media properties of clip via right click, to include alpha channel, if it doesn’t immediately show alpha

  • I simply drag an I/O point on the timeline, then press Delete – all good!

make sure to start the drag anywhere but on a clip, eg above the timeline, otherwise you’re just moving the clip.

To insert time, again make your selection, and then right click – EMPTY EVENT, or place your cursor at the start of the insert and choose INSERT/TIME. You could turn that into a shortcut too, I suppose.

    CTRL + L = toggle ripple edit

    number keypad:
7 + 9 = select beginning or end of clip, and jump to next
    4 + 6 = trim/extend by 1 pixel
    1 + 3 = trim/extend by single frame
5 = exit edge trimming mode
    8 + 2 = move clip up / down a track. VERY useful
F3/F9 = trim left/right (when in edge trimming mode)

there’s more. in the Help menu, there’s a whole section just on keyboard shortcuts, plus you can create your own, of course.

    1) create the loop by dragging on the timeline. make sure LOOP PLAYBACK option is turned on

    2) make sure RIPPLE EDIT is turned on

    3) if you drag the left most clip edge left or right, the right hand clip will move accordingly

if you drag the right hand clip edge, it will either overlap the left hand clip or not, as you will see

you CAN’T show I/O points of both clips as you require – though I’m hoping to be proved wrong….

My only beef with Ultimate S is that if you decide to move your timeline, or want to insert extra footage, none of the cam sync points can be globally selected to move the lot. If you have 200 switches between 4 cams, be prepared for a lot of Ctrl-clicking before you drag!

no problem at all. for the longest time, it’s been possible to select multiple markers (of any kind) and move them en masse

    🙂

    1) select the marker either at the end or the beginning of those that you wish to move

    2) select the MARKER TOOL on the right hand side of your timeline, above the UP scroll arrow

    3) hold SHIFT down and click on the last marker you wish to move

    4) move them

    5) say ‘ta daaaa!’

you can see a few selected on my timeline

What I was getting at was whether I could go back to editing the original timeline with the source files laid out. In premiere as it is a separate sequence you can always easily go back and tweak them if one isn’t quite in sync for example. What would annoy me is if I had multicam editing an entire show and realised one camera was very slightly out and I couldn’t go back and edit it.

which is exactly what US & Excalibur allow you to do

I understand your problem – it was one of my peeves with the Vegas method, if using the inbuilt tools. As was suggested, just duplicate the tracks BEFORE enabling multicam, then you can go back to the duplicates

if you use UltimateS or Excalibur, you can avoid this problem, since the master track is a composite of copies – tweaking is therefore very easy.

Only issue would be having to pay for the plugins. You can try the trial versions to give them a test run

how many cameras do you normally use?
