My assistant kind of screwed the pooch on this one, and I wound up having to cut at 60p due to time contraints. Anything I can do now that it’s cut? Using the plugin seems to keep some redundent frames (i.e., each cut has a different cadence). I’d like to have a 24p master. Thanks

It fits nicely on a rack, if that’s the issue. You need to get the rack ears for that too.

After much struggling with this over a year ago, I found that the best solution is the Tascam TM-D1000 digital mixer, which is no longer made, but there always seem to be some on eBay for $350-450. Make sure you get one that has the upgrade card that provides extrad SPDIF I/O

Go with 8-bit, so long as your drives can handle the speed/storage. Allso, check out “online JPEG” easy setups

Maybe you see something else, but I always see flicker on a good monitor when cutting in PAL (I mostly do NTSC, with the occaissional PAL project).

Vid adjustments are greyed out by default for SDI input. It’s a straight transfer of digital data from point A (deck) to point B (hard drive)

Well, it seems that the problem only exists over the DVI-D port, and only with DV (720×480) footage. When I drop the footage in a 720×486 seq, all plays back fine after render. So, it seems that the DVI-D output does not adjust for the missing 6 lines properly.
BMD, anything that can be done about this with a software upgrade?
Just to sum up the problem, the field order is wrong when playing back DV-NTSC material through the DVI-D output on the MBE. Thanks

Composite output is fine. Will check component later
I would prefer to use the DVI-D port for this monitor for all uses if possible

Not to be a dittohead, but ditto. I’ve just done this myself, and on the plasmas, the Panasonic “Pro” series cannot be beat. I think the Sharp Aquos are the best LCD, but I much prefer the plasma picture generally.
You can do better on price.
