  • Same here. Started 2 days ago and I can’t fix it

  • FYI, for the rest of you, this was my response to Kaspar:

First in the System Preferences, Blackmagic preferences, UNCHECK the remove
jitter when video is paused option. Does this help your issue?

    It was already unchecked

Also when it’s not playing video, can you set it to output Black or even
Video Desktop? Does changing this option affect your results?

Nope, I use black, this doesn’t change anything

Is there anything you do that can cause it to always lay it off with a
duplicate frame? 3/4 of the time is a high amount but anything we can to
solidify the results would also help in tracking back this issue.

Nothing I can tell. I came up with the 3/4 figure after laying down a countdown 20 times and having it come out wrong 15 times and right 5 times

Lastly, does this happen if you use our Deck Control application or only
    FCP?

    Same with deck control

And last week you had mentioned you had found a workaround. What was the
workaround that you are doing that either fixes or lessens this issue?

The workaround is that the programs I happened to be laying back last week all had fades at the beginning and end. I added another frame of black to the head and tail, removed 2 frames from the body. So this way, when the frame was doubled, it was just black and the program ended at the right spot. If the frame wasn’t doubled, just an extra black frame at the head and tail. I can only pray QC doesn’t catch it. I had to lay down bars, slates and countdowns each in separate passes. THIS IS NOT HOW I INTEND TO WORK IN THE FUTURE.

  • [Baz Leffler] “What deck are you using? Have you tried altering the edit delay parameter?”

The deck is a DVW-A500 NTSC

I have adjusted the playback delay, but that’s not the issue

I was able to fix the problem:

    Shutdown
Pull all cards but video card
    Startup
    Login as root
    Make ESU chages
    Restart
    Shutdown
    Put cards back
    Startup

    Everything’s good now.

Is there a way to force a firmware update on this thing? I thought it was just automatic when new firmware was available. Can a factory restore be performed?

Hi. I seem to be having much the same problem.

I’ve had a Multibridge Extreme in my G5 Quad since March, 2006. It’s always worked just fine all the way through when I pulled it out of the G5 yesterday to transfer to a Mac Pro (1st Gen) Quad Core that I got from a friend. The Mac Pro will not recognize the Multibridge no matter what I do. I have tried:

    1) Reseating the card
    2) Trying in Slots 3 and 4
    3) Repeated uninstall/installs of drivers

I am running the 2nd config (16x, 1x, 4x, 4x) in the Expansion Slot Utility. There is a Sonnet E4P in slot 3.

Any thoughts on this or will this thing not work in a Mac Pro?

Just got the word on this, BTW, no driver conflict b/w the MXO and BM products

[Bob Zelin] “How about convincing them to buy a nice Blackmagic Decklink Extreme, which will do everything.”

Like I said before, I convinced them to use the MXO for field monitoring their dailies on their MacBook Pro, and get a Multibridge Pro for the Mac Pro. They shoot mostly HDV, and master to DigiBeta, so I’m going to have them transcode and downrez on capture, and cut/finish in 10 bit SD. That is to say, get out of HDV as quickly as possible 🙂

I was actually wondering about driver conflicts…

In any event, I think I’ve convinced them to dump the MXO

If only Adobe were this on the ball. Sigh.
