I could be wrong, but since Xpress DV “end of lifed” some time ago, I think you would need to purchase a full copy of Xpress Pro.
If you depend on it for making money, you are really better off doing that anyway. Start with a fresh, clean install.

The answer for you would probably be Avid Xpress Pro or Media Composer software-only version. Neither of these is what you’d call “cheap”, but they have the solutions you are looking for.
Keep in mind these packages come with VERY specific hardware requirements too. There’s not a really an in-between step between Xpress DV and these packages. You have to be ready to pony up.

Your question is perhaps a little too broad. But I presume you are referencing using the cards on an Avid system. In that case the answer is simple. Is the card Avid-qualified? If the answer for both is yes, go with the more powerful card. If the 6800 is not an approved card, well there it is!

Under the “Clip” menu, I believe, you’ll find “Re-create Title Media”. Select your sequence and use that command to create new pre-computes of your titles.
On MC Adrenaline there’s a “Re-Create Titles and Mattes” for material with alpha channels other than titles. That option may appear in Xpress Pro, though I am not sure. It may be version-dependent.Good luck with it!

The first thing I would try is trashing the media database files (after exiting Xpress Pro), and letting Xpress Pro rebuild the databases on startup. See if that resolves it. Usually when Media Tool shows nothing, it is time to rebuild those puppies.
Then after the rebuild, when Xpress Pro launches, perhaps using Media Tool and deleting pre-computes only for the project might get you back to a clean render/export situation.

The purpose of drop frame time code is to make sure that TC remains true to real time in longform projects. It basically applies to the NTSC world.
Although we do mostly short-form, we run DF time code throughout the house. That way we know, no matter what, that TC gives us an accurate time/length reference.
Never had any problems cutting because of DF time code.

March 29, 2007 at 5:10 pm in reply to: Avid Export interlacing problemsUnless I am mistaken, all NTSC is in fact LOWER field first with the possible exception of DV output (which is 720×480 instead of 720×486).
I routinely use lower field first for all exports. We’re NTSC.

Did you have XpressPro on this machine previously and upgrade? Or is this a new installation? We need more information about your system before we can help diagnose something like this.
Avid software is picky and won’t run on just any machine. You may already know this; I just mention it in case you did not.
