No break out box = no analog audio outputs.

But this is interesting: I’m feeding SDI to a digibeta, and I can hear the crackling there also.

No problems if I listen to audio over Mac headphone output.

Do a quick search… I found an artical on Barefeats.com that explained in very simple steps how to get Compressor kicking butt with 8 cores

We don’t need any new products. All we want is a nice 6.5 upgrade that fixes, fixes, fixes

  • That’s the most likely scenario. Macworld keynotes aren’t the place for professionals using Mac software… it’s about Apple’s gadget obsession

You still lose a drive to parity in Raid 3. Raid 5 is a little slower overall because of it’s more complicated technique, and like Walter says, it’s full speed even in a crash.

FWIW, I did have a regular G-Speed @ RAID 3 blow out on me once. It rebuilt itself pretty quickly and without a hitch. Was pretty happy about that.

Ah, thanks lads, was not aware!

In all my HD travels, have never actually needed to make 1080i from 1080p. I don’t have a deck till tomorrow to experiment – is there anything I need to do timeline wise to layoff (23.98 fps to 29.97 HDCAM)

Heh heh…. I asked a Apple engineer about this once…. they looked at me like I was an alien.

There’s no way to do it. Except maybe a webcam in the machine room looking at the deck display.

AJA makes extremely reliable gear. It will work as advertised, and more, but frankly FCP is a little doggy and specific with it’s technical menus and settings. You’ll need to provide us a lot more specifics on your system before we can help.

It sounds like your system isn’t set up right at all. Was this a home built system, an order from a video reseller?

    are you running leopard? Tiger?

What are you trying to digitize at? DV25? HD? 720? 1080?

What are you sequence settings? What is your Video out setting?

End of day you can put ANYTHING on film. There aren’t a lot of fast rules – IRE and all that gets tossed to the wind. Get a lab lined up, have them help and consult on your project – that’s your best bet.

If you have something you shot in 1080 and are editing in 1080 – if it looks OK on your properly calibrated HD monitor, a decent lab will make it look OK on film.

And BTW, that Apple commercial is misleading. They played around with Color, but they certainly did not do the DI grading of Country with it.
