Compressor and the new octo-core question
Posted by Arnljot Bringedal on January 16, 2008 at 1:49 pmHey!
Anyone know any good online resources / tuts for compressor, qmaster setup?
I would like to set up compressor rendering and shake rendering that includes the octo, one quad and 3 MBPs optimally.

January 16, 2008 at 5:32 pmI’m afraid that will cause more confusion. The gang at Apple who wrote those manuals obviously has never used any of their products.

Do you know of a better source?

January 16, 2008 at 5:37 pmDo a quick search… I found an artical on Barefeats.com that explained in very simple steps how to get Compressor kicking butt with 8 cores

Setting up a Virtual Cluster is much different than what arnljot wants to do. He wants to setup 5 or so computers using Qmaster to have a network render.

January 16, 2008 at 8:38 pmI have to ask….
After fumbling thru the manual, I finally got network rendering to work… sort of….
Every time that I try to do this with my Mac Pro and G5, if they don’t crash, my video looses sync or skips to different areas in the video.
I haven’t had success with this yet, and I have been a little hesitant about using anymore until I hear that things are worked out.
Besides, my Mac Pro could render by itself equally as the network render.

January 16, 2008 at 8:45 pmI have never been able to setup Qmaster either. I always chalked it up to me not understanding the process.
