I’ll put a vote in for G Technology G-Speed. They come RAID3, which is totally fine for video, and handle 1080i 4:2:2 no problems. We have 2 that get used heavily

I did in fact have a drive failure, and the Raid 3 built itself back quickly and without issue.

    10-4 big buddy.

I’m surprised you got it – most people think my actual name is Charlie.

Proof that years of experience doesn’t mean you’re above operator error.

I was using a 29.97 device control instead of 23.98. It was capturing with 30fps code, so it would go 1,2,4,5,7…. up to 29. hence all the clips were all over.

    duh.

You might be right Mark. I’ve been doing A/B timecode comparisons between their Timecode and mine… they’re off. Either I’m wrong, or they are. It’s a rental deck.

    will keep investigating.

  • Oh… we have some Avid’s here too. I know. Feel sorry for those dudes. Even despite FCP’s problems, you can still jimmy rig the thing to work

  • Don’t you hate it?

It’s great Apple creates hype about iWhatevers. But us poor ass Final Cut users who fight tooth and nail with their dodgy product every single day – we don’t need secrets. We need reassurance that things are being fixed. It’s like staring into the Software Abyss every time I have to open Media Manager.

ok, going home now. stopping ranting on internet. must stop….

Isn’t HDV anamorphic to begin with? I don’t know.

These problems sometimes crop up for me with DVCPRO-HD. Try using one of the 16:9 encode settings from Compressor.

I second Jeremy. It’s specific to FCP 6. I can run the files in 5 and they sound fine.

It DOES sound like noise we used to get back in the day with DAT’s and word sync and all that. But this machine is standalone, no input video or black burst, straight out of Kona.

    MacPro 8 core
    FCP 6.0.2
    KONA 4
    QT 7.3

Yeah, it’s intermittent. Very frustrating with people watching dailies and freaking out their audio guy ruined something. I’ve just taken to listening to everything via the headphone jack
