    Your Raid might not take it well in an XSAN environment. But if it’s just an XRAID hooked up, you *should* be ok. the older XRAID was never noted for exceptional speed.

    Right on Matt. FCP today isn’t that far removed from version 1. It’s still deeply rooted in that initial theory (and probably code). There’s so much work to be done, but to do it right I believe would be a ground-up rewrite. Does it make sense for them as a business to hurry up production? Probably not.

    Let’s hope for a .5 update that fixes 6’s major issues. That’s the most we’ll get this year I’m afraid.

    A/V devices -> device control -> edit -> +1 to playback offset.

    try opening the clip in Cinema Tools and hitting “conform rate” and hit 23.98. QT gets buggy like that sometimes.

  • Pretty simple problem. Basically think of it as Mini DV runs at 29.97 fps, but the sound board runs at 30.00

    so you gotta slow down that sound file. 99.9% or thereabouts.

    Holy cow.

    I really despise how they say Apple users can go to retail stores or Apple.com to learn about their new products.

    We’re not buying ipods and we don’t care about iLife 8.17. We’re trying to make careers with your pro software. Your retail store employees don’t know 1/100 of what I would ask them to show me. So Apple, please find a way to keep us pros WELL INFORMED of FCP. Somehow!

    always 23.98. 24 is a special situation format that doesn’t see much playtime. EDL doesn’t matter, 24 and 23.98 have the same numerical data… all it comes down to is playback speed

    Unless you’re cutting negative (which I doubt, that’s a rare bird anymore)…

    it’s that easy.

    that happened to me! Maybe a year ago…. dang, I can’t remember how I resolved it. I hesitate to say it’s a Leopard thing because I was on Tiger and it was FCP 5.

    You’ve repaired permissions? Run software update for everything. What’s you Undo Levels set to? let me think some more

    Also… chances are they’ll shoot 1080/24. Which is great for editing. You need to deliver a 1080i/59.94 tape, but all that means is adding standard pulldown to the final layoff.

    This is something to confirm with the producers and whoever has delivery specs, but it’s more likely than anything else.
