Hm. I’m going to bet it’s because you’re using a non-standard frame size. That is, 2k is not a format FCP is “familiar” with and it’s causing some bug when you render…. or there’s a bug with ProRes that is freaking out on the non-standard frame size.
Have you tried trascoding your 2k to 1080 w/ ProRes? You won’t lose much res compared to 2k.

yep. for some reason, FC has never been able to properly deal with mp3’s.

Same deviation. 60min, 3.6 secs.
it’s more frames per second, but the slowdown mitigates at the same rate.

Hm…. Why are you editing with “Dyanmic Res”? When you render, is it because you’re using filters on the footage? What filters?
You should have zero problems with ProRes on your machine. there’s probably something simple hidden away that we need to find

FCP isn’t coded to take advantage of all those cores. Awesome, huh?
So while you render away you can have Photoshop running, itunes playing, and browsing the Cow without any performance hit to FCP.
Only a few programs right now can use 8 cores: Shake, Compressor, After Effects

are you working in a 24.0fps timeline? or 23.98?

Quick reply: there’s no easy way around it.
I wouldn’t trust the Duck + FCP if you need to get into an old project for revisions. Go ahead and keep the Xpress software for when you need it. On top of not being able to move an entire project to FCP, AVID uses proprietary codecs that will either not work at all or be problematic with FCP.

Just run the Blackmagic disk test utility – it should give you the numbers on what that bad boy can handle
