Just install the 5.1.1 on your G4. there’s no reason you can’t install FCP on your main system and a travelling (laptop) system.

I had to make a custom setting in Compressor for Mpeg-2 with Lower fields. The presets always had weird interlace artifacts.

Ah, correct. EXCEPT that any 8 or 10 bit UC footage is showing fields regardless of size.

My first thought when FCP really starts to act weird is to make a new sequence and cut/paste your entire show into it. It’s solved more than one problem for us before.

Wow… that must put out some serious BTU’s.

I can’t speak for anything else, but we have been slamming on an Apple XSAN for 5 months and it’s been 100% for us. But it comes at a premium price and you REALLY need a XSAN expert to come in to do a hardware estimation plus the initial setup of the whole San = $$$$.
