I have seen people do that with USB flash drives, you just create a encrypted disc image on the drive and you are good to go. However I would recommend taking your iPod with you anyway, if you are just leaving there unattended while other are around it is bound to come up missing eventually.

The only credible souse of information about Apple products is Apple itself. Apple vary rarely says anything until they are about to actually release it.

You can wake up every morning and check apple.com like everyone else.

February 10, 2007 at 7:41 am in reply to: I did a really stupid thing, HELP!!

“I was also stupid in my post, my edit system is on a G4, not a G5 I think I just have G5 on the brain because I just bought my powerbook pro”

there is no such computer as a powerbook pro if you are referring to a macbook pro. If you are referring to a macbook pro I don’t see why you should have G5 on your mind because nether your new system or your old system have a G5 in them. A macbook pro has a Intel Processor in it.

Before you do an erase and install on your G4 do a archive and install this will not erase your files but just reinstalls the OS.

If you want 10.4 on your G4 then purchase a copy of it and install it from that. Like the last post said the discs that came with the macbook pro are specific to the Intel proceeder and other hardware of the macbook pro.

When you capture your footage originally make sure you log and capture don’t just use capture now. Then all you need to so is save your FCP project & graphic files to a CD or DVD, you can recapture from the original tapes later that way.

Every one I have tried it with FCP always wants deck control (FF/RW/Play/Pause) because the DVD Recorder cant give this it will not work. If there is one that will that would be great though.

February 6, 2007 at 4:33 pm in reply to: Help- FCP 5 HDV v SD question

If you edit in DV and later decide you want it in HDV you will have to reedit it. If you edit and master in HDV you wont have to redo it if you want HDV later.

Once it is edited in HDV, send it to compressor and us one of the DVD set ups it will encode your HDV video into SD DVD files, you can then make your SD DVD in DVD Studio Pro.

However I don’t know how well our computer will handle editing HDV footage. Editing HDV video is vary processor Intensive so I would not recommend doing it in anything less then a G5. Run some tests with your system to see hoe it handles it.

Try repairing disc permissions, when ever the computer acts a little funny always try repairing disc permissions first.
