Help- FCP 5 HDV v SD question
Hi,
I’m a fairly experience FCP 5 user working on my first HDV project on a 1.67 GHz Power book with 1 GB RAM, and despite spending the past day seaching the forums, I’m very confused about my options.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Project: I need to edit a DVD for a client that will play on any DVD player. The problem is I have a mix of Sony HDV footage ( capture settings 1080i50) and SD footage.
Should I:
A) Downconvert the HDV footage to SD in FCP 5 and edit the entire project in SD, then send to DVD Studio Pro. If so what settings should I use to downconvert? Will the finished project look like a SD DV project?
B) Or should I try to edit in HD? If so what settings should use? Can I embed the SD footage as a smaller window in the HDV footage? How do I do this?
Or should I upsize the SD footage using a plugin like ReSizer|?When I export the project to DVD Studio Pro, will the HDV project then play on SD televisions? Is a HDV DVD much better quality?
Apologies for the many questions, I’m just finding it very difficult finding out the best solution. I’m sure many users have had similar experiences, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
