Well I cant say why the optical drive till not open with out looking at it, it could be a stuck door, or it could be the drive itself. I would sign up for an appointment at your local apple store and have then look at it.

[MHancock (promoboy)] “So what do you do? Well, you can flat out refuse to put it in there until they provide the papers that show you specifically have the rights to the music/film, but again–you’ll likely be canned before that happens because you’re not being a “team player”.”

Firing someone for not breaking the low when you ask them to, thats a good reason, and one that will give them a nice lawsuit. So now they have two lawsuits to deal with, one for copyright violation and one for wrongful termination.

[fourlegz] “You mentioned iphoto, that can’t be used as an element in a FCP timeline, can it?”

No but all you asked for was the simplest way to put motion to photos, and iPhoto is the simplest way.

If all you need is a photo slide show then iPhoto is fine, if you want to mix it with video then it is not. You never said, all you asked for was the simplest way to put motion to photos.

Like I said there is no promise that disk warrior will be able to fix it, but you can try it.

Reformatting the drive till erase all the data, but should fix the problem, as long as there is not a under lying hardware issue.

FCP 4.5 will not edit HDV, that was introduced in FCP 5. And I believe that support for the V1U did not come until FCP 6.

You need to get the new version of FCP if you wish to use HDV from that camera.

Sounds like one computer has a codec that the other one douse not.

I would not want to work with files that you have to render every time you make a simple change anyway.

I say ether recapture or convert them to quicktime files.

“Invalid B-tree node” means that the partition volume is corrupted, it is generally not a hardware failure, however it is possible that a hardware failure could cause the volume to become corrupted. But usually not.

You can try disk warrior, but there is no promises that it can fix it. Reformatting the drive however should take care of the volume corruption.

You will need a newer version of FCP to work with HDV.

Well iPhoto would probably be the supper easy way. There are programs like Fotomagico that are good.

But if you want to do it in FCP you will have to keyframe them all.

It might actually help if you told us what programs are the issue.

By he way your question is not a FCP question it probably belongs on the OS X forum.
