  • Installing OSX on New Hard Drive

    Hi,

I have a g5 and the hard drive crashed. I was lucky to have backed up all files on an external drive via: disc warrior. I am about to install a new internal drive, and have to re-install OSX…however, the drive door on the computer will not open. How do I get the drive door to open and what are the proper steps to install the old files and OSX?

For instance, when I take out the old drive, and install the new one, will the drive door work? Anything specific I should be careful of? Should I leave the old drive in its current slot and put the new one on a different slot? Or should I just discard the old drive?

    Lots of questions! Thanks!

    Jimmy

Well I cant say why the optical drive till not open with out looking at it, it could be a stuck door, or it could be the drive itself. I would sign up for an appointment at your local apple store and have then look at it.
