[Dan Barter] “It seems strange to me that there wouldn’t be a way to get the actual digital footage from the DVD, since it’s, well, digital.”

Yes it is digital, but it is still compressed. All video on DVD is compressed. You can try mpeg stream clip, but to get the best results I always say get your hands on the original masters.

If the place decided to do it in house you will have top have the old place hand over originals anyway.

You can always try pulling your edited video into the new iMovie, in iLife 08 it has an option to send directly to youtube.

You can use a .Mac account, last week they were upgraded from 1GB to 10GB.

You can have it give a simple page of what is available to download, or even better, use the new iLife 08 with it and make a video gallery. You can offer different quality sizes to be watched or downloaded, and you can password it so that only your client has access to it.

What format of video are you working with, HD or SD?

Personally I would look into using the video galleries that you can do with .Mac and the new iLife 08. It converts it to multiple sizes, if you shot HD then the large will be batter then DVD quality. You can also password protect it so only your client can view it. They can just watch it online as well as you can give them the ability for them to download it.
