You are already using pompressed media so nomatter what yoou do it isnt going to end up looking the best.

you menchoned that you are getting these video clips from the web, which is never a good source for getting video to edit because it has already been compressed.

Another issue with video from the web is copywrights. To be editing these things you NEED to have the legal right to do so. Assuming that you do have the copywright then you should also have access to the origonal mastered video, and you should have no need to be scailing up.

Those are copywright protected files you should not be rying to edit them in the first place

That is the nature of HDV. When deeling with HDV you are deeling with the long Gop and that is why it has to conform the video een though it has been rendered.

Did you previously run FCP rescue to give it a set of good prefference files to replace corrupt ones with.

if ot you need to just trash those preffs

Those videos are so compressed as it is they are not going o look that good if you could even get them

You could use MpegStreamClip to convert it to a video file and then edit your heart out

however when you put it back to DVD it will get compressed againand compressing some thing that has already previously been comressed is never a good idea because of quality loss.

as for adding blood unless you are REALY REALY GOOD it is going to look bad, cheezy or both.
