I’m not sure (doesn’t say on it) but it’s an old one. At least a few years old. Does it matter?

I just don’t know how long the recording is. It might be an hour, 2 3 or 4… even if I fast foward to the end, the VCR is old and doesn’t show me how long the tape is.

The computer has 2 CPU’s each 3.4 I think and 2GB of RAM. I will try to import it to a regular DV project like you said. Good idea.

Actually, it is quite simple with Premiere. Here are the steps:
1. Create a new title. Draw a white box the size you want your matte to be. (Or a circle or any shape for that matter)
2. Place this title (this is your matte) above the clip you want to screen. (Doesn’t have to be exactly above but the matte cannot be under the clip)
3. Apply the filter “Track Matte Key” to the clip.
4. In the filter, you need to have Alpha choosen. (It should be the default).
5. That’s it.
Extras:
1. For a nice look, apply a feather filter on the MATTE (the title) and give it a feather of %70. Paste and copy this filter 7 times on the matte.

Steven, are you saying this because your familiar with Premiere Pro’s multicam editing or know the cameras or both? (If you’re familiar with PPRO muticam – I still want to ask on your reply).

You didn’t understand my question so please let me explain:
I DO NOT cut out footage! A wedding is usually 3 – 4 disks. The fist disk is the “Highlights” disk. It’s only an hour of clips and dancing. It sums up the wedding so you can enjoy and get a picture of the event in an hour.
In my question, I was explaining that when exporting the wedding, I try to put it all in 3 disks by doing 1:15 per disk. If there is more footage, of course I will do 4 disks.
So that’s why I asked how much can go into a disk.
By the way, we do 8 or 9 MB\s (Don’t remember what I set it to off hand) but we do VBR which I have researched and it DOES give a better compression then CBR but doesn’t effect the quality at all since it’s only compressing more at places that it can, without reducing quality from the bitrate you set as min, avr, and max.

Ok, figured it out. I needed the time\date STAMP to be on RECORD mode in the cameras internal setup menu.

When I play back for capturing, I see a timecode and other stuff in the viewer. Like I said, I don’t understand in the camera settings, all I do with the camera is connect it to the computer for capturing. The camera people told me that they don’t change settings, and I wrote that SOME (most) videos WILL successfully use scene detect with no problem. Same Tapes… Same Camera… that’s why it’s strange…

Ok, the 10 suggestions I wrote is more then 2000 characters so you can’t submit it to ADOBE, so here’s the version to copy\paste with less then 2000 characters:

2. I want an option to “ripple delete” ALL spaces\gaps at once on any given video track.
3. I want there to be a sequence export QUE like there is in AE!!
4. I want more control over the TIMELINE markers! I want to be able to move them all at once! (very important!)
5. Close all open sequences at once. (right click a sequence – close all!) (when using muticam sequences – tabing from sequence to another causes delays for “updating timeline” and as of now, when you close a sequence, PPRO wants to close this one but show you the next and you have to wait each time.
6. With muticam, pressing 1 and 2 cuts the clip in the timeline and switches the camera. I want an option that will also add a default transition.
7. Hiding “shy tracks” like in AE. To be able to HIDE tracks that have the “eye” turned off.
8.TAB through nested markers. Markers that were set in a sequence and then nested in another sequence, you can – in some cases – snap to these nested markers, but can’t tab between them.
9. A count of how many individual clips or assest (titles, solids, etc..) are on any given track.
10. I want to be able to swap video or audio TRACKS. Whatever is on track 1 will now be on track 2 and visa versa. This can be helpfull especially with audio tracks that you used “fill left\right” and want to switch it, or with video tracks for many reasons.
