My boss just came in (it’s 10:45 AM here) and he’s on board with the black ceiling. The workers just went to buy black paint. Thanks.

If you need to shoot a subject in an “up” profile, I guess I would have him lie on his back to get the same effect. The room is not tall enough for an “up” shot anyway, since we would get the ceiling lights in the shot I would think.
Yes, we build the cyc by rounding the connections of floors and walls.

Thank you so much for your reply. Black it is. I will tell my boss.
Tell me though, why would one want to shoot toward the ceiling? We need the floor green since we will be shooting full subjects as well.
Thanks again.

Mark, thank you so much for the detailed reply. but Nicky is right. I was not talking about the graphic card. That I am actually VERY happy with. On my old system I rendered something 2 weeks ago in 3dsMax that took 17 hours and on my new system took only 4.5 hours! Wow!
I actually was talking about a VIDEO card like Matrox or Canopus. Specifically I just upgraded to HDStorm but in my post I was asking about ANY video card.
If I just need to get a view on an external monitor I can just get a third HD computer screen for that (which is much cheaper then a video card). But people seem to say that video cards are also meant to boost performance and rendering times in NLE systems like Premiere and Edius etc… which I think I proved in my original post that with our powerful CPUs, motherborads and graphic cards, get the same, if not better results without using the Video card. So why the card?
The generic setting I mentioned is in the Edius program, where I disconnect my project from communicating with my video card, thus using the project as if I had no video card installed.

Thanks for the respond.
Here we use SD and HD video. SD can be captured via firewire and HD has ssd cards. we don’t need RCA connections for we don’t have monitoring systems. We edit events mainly. So your saying that editing with just software can be just fine.

To George:
You can use programs like PerfectDisk or O&O Defrag Pro that can be on auto pilot and defrag in the background every time the computer is idle.
I can’t use this option because my computer works 24/6 (renders and exports over nights). I would have to defrag on weekends but like I said, I don’t see the point because as soon as I defrag, old footage will be deleted and new footage will be captured and my drive would become almost instantly framented again.

joe, I delete huge amounts of data every few days. Do you think it would make scenes to defrag every few days?

I came back from my coffee and it was working again! Strange.

Did you solve this problem? I’m having the same problem… when I set an unnumbered marker on the fly, the cti stops playing. This didn’t used to happen. I’m using cs3 and already tried resitting premiere with Shft and Ctrl… didn’t help.
Any suggestions?

I don’t think so because Encore won’t allow you to put chapters anywhere other then I-frames.
I’m using some Avi codec. (Canopus – but it happens with any compression. Mpeg I haven’t tried though because I usually import untranscoded video to Encore and let IT do that job. Just saves me time so my Editing program frees up faster. (much longer to export to mpeg).
