I’m using another computer (not mine) with Premiere Pro CS3. I dropped a music clip on the timeline and hit play. I wanted to put markers as the music plays but as soon as I hit the asterisk button, the current time indicator stops. I want it to run continously as I hit the asterisk button the way I do on Premiere Pro 2.0. What should I do?

Sorry, it’s not “makers,” it’s “markers.”

Try the * key on the numerical keypad.

Thanks Mike, but that’s exactly what I’m doing and the CTI stops when I press the * button on the numeric pad. I’m trying to put markers on certain beats of the music. Are there some settings/ adjustments that I’m missing?

No other settings are required. Are you using a 3rd party capture card? Are you in a DV project?

I’m using an ADS Pyro breakout box and a firewire card with the same brand. I’m in a Standard Definition DV project. Is there a connection between putting markers on the timeline and the breakout box that I used to capture the clips with? Thanks and God bless.

    No…

I just had the “DUUUHHHHH” thought hit me….Is your Num Lock key (keyboard)turned off???

    LOL!

Yes, the numlock button is on, that’s why I can see a marker appearing in the timeline when I press the * key. The only problem is that the CTI stops playing when I press *.

If no other settings are required and if the numlock is on, do you think we need to reinstall Premiere Pro CS3? Thanks and God bless.

I would try reseting Premiere’s preferences first…hold the Shift and Ctrl keys down while starting Premiere.

Did you solve this problem? I’m having the same problem… when I set an unnumbered marker on the fly, the cti stops playing. This didn’t used to happen. I’m using cs3 and already tried resitting premiere with Shft and Ctrl… didn’t help.

    Any suggestions?
