Thank you. Great advice. I am much more comfortable using Avid, so will likely pick that.

is it better to transcode rushes in Davinci? I’ve heard Media Encoder is also great. Would you not suggest linking the 3K rushes via AMA and working at a reduced resolution?

thank you Pat, I didn’t know that QT support would be lost.

Is UME stable? are there any issues what UME or work arounds?

I need to use an avid version that is compatible with two different machines as I will be jumping between two locations. One currently runs Mojave, the other Monterey.

Avid MC Version 2021.12 appears to work on both, but I thought upgrading to Catalina would be a better bet. I’m not so sure now. What would you suggest?

Accessing older projects is not a problem, as those projects have long gone.

sorry just to add, would this be a better work method

import proxies of the 4K footage via AMA to 1/4 resoloution and work that way. Linking back to 4K AMA for screenings and final exports?

Okay great thank you, i shall follow your advice.

I converted the comparison to ProRes MXF, so not 422. that would explain the discrepancy. thanks for your help

thanks for the reply.

That is what i was going to do, but i have one take that is 18mins long and importing as DNxHD 145 created a 55GB file. and i have many more like that. Was worried my computer wouldn’t be able to handle such data. Pro Res created a much smaller file.

it looks like i have been given about 10hrs worth of footage. mostly shot at 25fps and 23.98.

The files are there. when i match back from the video track it matches okay and the audio is there then. It must be a switch of sorts i just can’t find it

anyone else with any suggestions? please?
