Hi everyone – happy new year

I usually work in features and am new to short form projects. I am due to edit a series of 5min films.

All appear to be shot at 4K, 23.98. probably about 22mins of footage per video.

I need to deliver the film in 4K. I will be using this version of avid. 2018.7. and on an iMac

my question is what is the best workflow? can i import at 4K, work and export that way. Or should i work offline. amy suggestions would be gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Zoe

Well, if you have enough drive space, that’s fast (RAID drive, Thunderbolt connected) then transcoding to DNxHR and working full res can be an option. If multicam, then a pretty fast drive needed due to multiple stream playback. But with that little footage, you should be able to edit full res no problem, and not need to do the offline/online workflow.

    Personally, I’d edit 4K…DNxHR.

Fantastic thanks Shane. That’s what I was hoping. No multi cam, all shot on single camera. And luckily really well shot.

Thanks for your response as always.

    Have a great week.

What format is the RAW file in?
Im RED mostly and its been so smooth in Avid as far as AMA goes.
For other formats I tend to conform to DNxHR.
