  • I would be glad to test and revue all aspects of your product.
I have spent 20 yrs in the touring audio industry with hardware processors and outboard equipment.
Then into software audio recording , then video etc.. always looking for easy, powerful, intuitive, “lite cpu” load plugins that sound transparent and work like their “hard” brothers.

  • I have a canon zr-40 that never really worked great for that type of use. transport control was slow etc..
My sony vx2100 is superior with talking firewire over the canon. I get instant response in comparison.

I presently have a Belkin 3port TI chipset PCI firewire card .
I connect 2 harddrives, a camera, and a 18 channell firewire audio card all at the same time. all 3 ports filled and 1 item chained thru audio rack.
    no problems….
Until I use my sony trv-900 camera which then forces all devices to drop then go blue screen. It doesnt like having anything else on the firewire line except itself…go figure.
    hope this helps

I have several cameras ,one of them is a trv-900.
I used to use it as my capture-cam.
I started to have fire wire problems one day. If I had the camera, external drives, external firewire audio etc… hooked up then i wouldnt get video preview or camera recognition.
    tried new cards, drivers, etc.
Long story short…as soon as I replaced that camera with another one …all problems went away.
I now can have multiple devices attached however i want …non issue.
Also when using it alone. (no other firewire stuff) it would still play nasty and drop recognition randomly.
My thoughts with no technical reason is that this was an earlier era camera with early firewire firmware. (circa 1997 ish)
Maybe she doesnt play ball the way the new ones do.
Or maybe the chip went bad inside ???

I tried cleaning the contacts with very good oxidation cleaner.
I tried checking to see if there was bent pins in the connecter etc…
So I just shoot with it and take it witha grain of salt.
Try tests and other cameras first before you panic with vegas.
    Works beautifully with my VX-2100
    hope this helps.

  • I dont do HDTV yet.
so I’m not versed in the gear requirements.
I like the matrox for the dual moniter plus a TV out.

Id set it up as 3 moniters then use the firewire out to a TV via converter .

  • I Have a matrox g550 dualhead card.
It does an amazingly good job with dual screen and vegas..never a hiccup.
I looked into the parhelia apv1e as well while building a new tower.
When their ad was posted Vegas 5 could not output directly to TV but could VIA fire wire. The WYSIWIG stuff I believe is only for those other programs with the associated drivers, software.
But as far as preview to TV off of the card. V6 now does that.
I dont think they updated their compatibility list since the new version of Vegas that now supports this feature.
Preview to TV via fire wire will work !!
I’m sure someone can verify this for you here.

All of you have valid approaches. Not being really solid with photoshop I tended to veer away from the learning curve in the essence of time.

Sooo… I’m 40 pics into this doing it with a revealing mask over the final grid pic. (trk 3)
    3 tracks total
a (trk 1) pic lands on its respective spot as a new hole gets punched in the grid. then pic disappears. 2nd trk is the next “fly in” with a small over lap to save time and keep it interesting.

Still open for suggestions on future options though.

    gary-
    good point.
    I might try that
because I already have the final mosaic given to me.
I’m currently trying masking the whole thing on track 2 then punching holes in it as the the real pic fly’s in to land on the “grid”
(trk 1). at that point the pic just gets swapped for the grid pic.

??? how many masks can be put on a single slate. It would suck to get to 75 then realize thats the limit ARGH !!
Do you fore-see a disaster with this technique ??

thats kind of the idea…but longer ending then into a round white phosphor glow then a snap to a horizontal white line.
We’ve all seen this now I cant get it.
    Argh.
    thanks for your submission !!

    Glenn-
    Thanks for the link.
However I was thinking of the more round style that pops into a horizontal line.
I’m gonna give it a whirl , see what happeens.
    thanx everyone
