Disk Utility is not on the techtool disk, it is on your OS install disk. I know in newer machines you no longer use the C key. I always just hold down the option key on new and old machines it will let you chose what you want to boot from.

NO some HDV cameras will down-convert HDV to DV in the camera and then output DV via firewire. That is what some of the others were trying to day is that your settings are not matching what is coming out of your camera.
And like a previous post said, because you have not told use what camera you are using we cannot say if your camera can even down convert the video for you.

Let me get this striate you imported h264 files that are HIGHLY compressed files, not to mention that h264 is not an editing codec, and you then edit it in FCP and then are exporting it as an uncompress quicktime.
I’m willing to bet that that is causing the problem.

I would recommend ether purchasing a newer used machine or better yet a mac mini to use for your digitizing station.

Like david said these type of agreements are normally signed BEFORE they start work for you. At this point what is the employees reason to actually sign it for you, after all he is already leaving.

If you are going to be doing a lot of photo slideshows, you should look into a program called Fhotomagico. Its easier and faster then doing them in FCP. You can then export your slide show to any video format you want.

Also the video card on a MB will use the computers ram for the video ram where the MBP has dedicated video ram.

If you are doing standard def then 8bt is good, if HD then DVC Pro HD or Pro Res.
But first try opening the PPT file in keynote and export your movie.

Like the other post said, open the PPT file in keynote.
As far as quality, that is mainly determined by your timeline settings. What easy setup did you choose? Be aware that if you used the simple DV settings that DV handles graphics VARY POORLY.
