It is best if they are identical, less risk of problems.

You cannot just add a drive to a existing raid you must build a new raid from scratch.

There is no way around loosing all the data on the drives. When setting up a raid it will erase all data on the drives, you will want to copy any data to a completely different drive first.

The benefit to a hardware raid is that it is MUSCH more stable. I have had software raids fail before, so I stop using them and started using hardware raids.

USB works in bursts of data unlike the constant stream of data used by firewire. Because of that USB drives are NOT recommended for video editing.

Well that all depends on the type of phone. There is NO universal format. With the iPhone for example video is ether synced on from the computer, or watched via the youTube app or on a web site. In the Palm treo I had before the iPhone there was a proprietary application that would convert a video file then sync it onto the phone, there was no option to get it via the web.
Honestly I don’t know that the cash register will turn much for cell phone video, the size of the screens means that you wont be watching a lot of long videos on it, and people will RARLY pay for any short video.
Sorry to rain on your parade but with the different types of phones and the lack of people willing to buy video content specifically for a phone I don’t see how your going to be making much. And if the video is in demand you are going to have to tell a lot of people that there phone is not compatible at this time, and then you will spend even more time researching the video that that particular phone will accept and how video can be put on that particular phone.

It would help us if you told us what you have tried. No offense but obviously you have not tried every thing because it is still not working. Everything to you is not every thing to others.

Once you get your system up and going make a clone of your system drive that you can boot from when something like this happens and you have a deadline.

In my personal opinion limiting ones business to compression is over limiting oneself.
Most people looking to have a video done and compressed for the web, or mobile devices, will simply have the company that does the production and editing compress it for them.

There have been MANY post about how well Leopard works on both intel/PPC machines.
A search of the forums will give you plenty of info.

Your version of FCP (5.0) is not compatible with the intel processor on your new computer. 5.1 is compatible with the Intel but not 5.0.
Honestly I am surprised that the FCP even installs and opens on your machine.

Boot from your install disk and after you select the hard drive there should be an option to erase and install, just choose that.
