I just purchased a USB 2.0 external drive and was wondering if I can expect any problem capturing right to the drive and editing off of it. I keep running out of space on my firewire drives and to save some money I went with a USB 2.0 drive and want to know if I can expect trouble.

USB works in bursts of data unlike the constant stream of data used by firewire. Because of that USB drives are NOT recommended for video editing.

Zane is right. USB drives are fine for storing things but not for editing.

Yep, it’s not recommended, BUT if you already bought it and can’t (or won’t) return it, go ahead and use it. It will work.

    Just like you remember it…
    maybe better.
