Highest quality what? DVD, web video, blue-ray, file for iPhone, what. Each of these will have different “best export settings”
So for us to tell you what the best settings are YOU need to tell us what you are actually trying to accomplish.

Again we cannot say, as you did not provide us with the needed info for us to say. We need info on the photos, the file type, size of photos, time line settings, etc etc.

Well your on the right track in converting to AIC as that is what you are limited to with FCE. However I noticed that you are shooting 24fps but you are converting your footage to 50fpc.
You should keep the frame rate the same?

Really? No offense but they are all over the place on the FCP forum. Questions about editing footage from DSLR cameras are asked multiple times a day.

FCP5 limits you to DVC Pro HD and uncompressed for editing codecs.

Nope Pro Res was introduced in FCP 6. With FCP 5 you are limited to DVC Pro HD or uncompressed.

Well we might be able to, but unfortunately you did not give us any information that might help us know whats going on.
What codec are the files you are editing?
What are your timeline settings?
How are you exporting?

Well in my opinion that is the WRONG way to go. Why go from a much more capable program to a program that will limit you even more when iot comes to codecs it is capable of editing?

To clarify that you purchase it from the Mac App Store, which is only available if you have 10.6.6 installed for your OS.

Yes fat32 will work on both Mac & windows, but it still has a 4GB file size limit.

You should know that Pro Apps like FCP can have problems if you simply upgrade a OS or upgrade your version of FCP. It is best to clone your drive, erase it and then start fresh.

A couple of things that can definitely help speed up compressor.
[Jeremy Cucco] “I’m sending videos from FCP straight into Compressor.”
That is definitely a much slower method. Export a reference movie and then bring that into compressor.
Also set yourself up a virtual cluster using qmaster this will allow compressor to take advantage of ALL cores of your processor.
