Hi there. If you want to use vectors I suggest using After Effects. Motion was really build around bitmaps. You can not import layered vector files which what I think you will be doing. AE will be able to handle this much better. Not an answer you where expecting, however an honest one!

I prefer to learn from video tutorials by following examples given in the tutorials. I find it quicker than reading the book. But then we are all different. Either way you have to put in the hours. Each of the moderators in this forum have written or rather recoded quite a lot of tutorials you just have to see their respective websites for more info. Good luck in you quest.

Increase the resolution of the screen to highest on your mac. Go to system preferences and then displys/ then set it to 1440pix or something higher than that. As far as then FCP problem goes, are you sure your media is connected properly.

Try ATi Radeon HD 5870. Works well with motion.

Download this free plugion. I think this is what you need to achieve your effect. After Install you will find it under Filters Menu.

I never have this problem. What is your canvas size when you are viewing your animation. 100% if any other Try to se your canvas at 100% as this will be a true representation of the pixels. What is a resolution of your image and what is the size of your image in pixels please. You really need to give us more info. It is difficult to see what is a problem. P.S where are you from.-)

I would do it in a way you have explained it. Mask the video and arange it in a way you like. Anyway if you are looking to stylise your video see my tutorial on embryo.me.uk about crossprocessing. Use only chunk of video you need for your animation. As you have said motion does not like to handle a massive video files. Maybe use Prores codec, not HQ just Prores. File will be small while retaining the quality.
