Well , in my case i wouldnt be switching… I already have a MAC. 32 vs 16 gb ram is non-issue for me , i’m never gonna keep the machine THAT long. I upgrade every 2 years and i’m not investing $4000 into RAM now. I’m thinking of going eventually to 8GB , but for now 5GB will have to do. ( 1GB Apple’s default ram , plus 4GB kit from OWC or 1800-4-Memory.)

I dont want to start new flame war PC’s vs Mac , but i’ve used PC’s since DOS 5.0 and switched couple years ago to MAC. I couldnt be happier.
One thing to consider though is pathetic GPU’s Apple has at the moment. Their “reasonable” priced GPU’s max out at 1900XT which is about 1 generation and 1 refresh behind PC world. Word is they’ll have Ati’s 2800XT available when they release it in MAY so i’m getting 7300GT for now with my MAC for and later upgrade to something more adequate.

Are you going to have benchmarks on your website with 8 Core machine vs 4 Core vs 2 Core using Nucleo ?

Also if i remember correctly ( i have Nucleo pro only at work ) in Pro version you can chhose how many cores Nucleo uses… Can you choose to use 5 or 6 if i have only 6 Gb ram ?

    thanks

Thanks for reply. I knew Pro was not included which is kind of bummer 🙂

Anyway i tried to find some benchmarks on your site using Nucleo and 8 core machine and didnt find anything. I’d like to see how much improvement there is over Quad. I know it’s impossible to expect double speed since other factors play big role and may be bottleneck. Google didnt turn up anything either. Can anyone with Nucleo try to run test on 4 cores and 8 cores ?

Again thanks and take care ,

“That said, does the new multithreading capability in AE make Nucleo redundant? Or will it just add to Nucleo’s power?”

Nucleo has gone down in price to VERY cheap $50. I think Adobe just bought it or coded their own “Nucleo”. What i was looking for in AE8 was Nucleo Pro features like Spec preview and Background render but that seems not to be the case.

On other hand , i’m really looking to what Apple has up their sleeve. Considering Motion is just in 2nd version and fact that they took the whole SHAKE team to develop something w/Motion and Shake tech. i just cant wait to see it. Motion’s speed is awesome but it lacks features. Shake was AT LEAST comparable to AE in features so Motion/Shake morph cant fail 🙂

You must have added that bold text ” Beginning April 16th”. I’m blind but not THAT blind.
    Please say so 🙂

I’d like to hear what others think of new version of AE and its new features. I’m kinda glad they got rid of 1 version BUT not so about the features. I was kinda expecting something big.

Just looked at Adobe labs (10:40pm PST) and no sign of AE beta… is this for real ?

Yea no kidding. I guess they’ve given up on chasing Shake and Combustions of the world and look more into ProConsumer camp. I hope i’m wrong though.

After effects is gonna jump from 7 to 8 this time around it seems. When you look at the issue of CreativeCow magazine where Adobe annouces that production studio is comming to MAC, PremierePro screenshot has two “AE8” projects in the timeline.

Lets hope this unusually big jump in version naming scheme warrants itself with feature set. Like full OpenGL support or 3d or nucleo like features… it’d be let down if only new features are the ones listed on Amazon.

Was the music made for you and or you made that trailer match the music ?

I always wondered about these things… never asked.

BTW -> are tutorials included in downloadable version as well ? Also mm i gona be able to back it up to DVD ? I’d hate to lose it once my HD bites the dust.
