It’s funny. I’ve got a quad-core Mac Pro, with 4gigs of RAM and the X1900 XT. I still get crazy slow downs with Motion. Granted I’m still using 5.x of the studio suite, but come on! I should have very simple SD Motion projects, using 8 bit color, slow down my computer so much that I have to leave, and come back 5 min later and finally have Motion respond to me again. And HD projects? Forget about it. Unless I’m sticking to text only with less than 3 groups (layers) HD projects are almost unusable. Maybe I’m expecting too much, as I never used anything other than LiveType.
BTW, I consulted the Cow before I installed anything, and followed a very strict guideline for installing applications AND hardware.
PS I’ve noticed that when my Mac Pro gets bogged down, especially with Motion, I get strange, empty folders in my Preferences folder, with nonsensical file names.
Having said this, this doesn’t happen enough to deter me from using Motion. Overall, it’s faster, and I can achieve things I never thought I’d be able to.
