Oh I’ve tried the presets as well. And I’ve also tried editing some of the settings in the presets but I’m still getting similar results…
Am I better off just taking this to someone who encodes DVD’s and paying them to do it? I’m running very short of time and dont know what else to try..

Sorry, I should have included more detail. The standard way I have been attempting this is:
In FCP I choose export quicktime movie using the current project settings.
I then import that file into compressor where I have tried a number of different settings including going straight to MPEG2 720×576 and H264 720×576 and then using DVDSP to encode to MPEG2.
I have also tried going from HDV 1080i to H264 1440 x 1080, then reimporting the file into compressor, scaling it down to H264 720 x 576, then using DVDSP to encode to MPEG.All of these methods have had very similar results. Whether it be heavy ghosting, pixelation, grain etc.
As for de-interlacing, I have been doing that in compressor when encoding to H264.
I was hoping that someone had figured out a consistent method for encoding HDV to MPEG2 for DVD.

Thats great! Thank you so much David!
In the end, my main problem was that I was trying to export from FCP using Compressor, instead of exporting the MOV directly from FCP and importing that into compressor!
Thank you again for all your help! No doubt I’ll be calling on your services again one day soon!

That worked an absolute treat!! Thank you sooooooooooo much!!!
Now that this thread is open, do you think you might be able to tell me what settings to use prior to DVD authoring?
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your help david!
There are 3 separate tasks that I need to complete for this project. I need to be able to export the finished product for Web, SD DVD & HD DVD.
Right now my priority is the web upload as my client is currently in another country and I need to get them a sample. I’ve heard of vimeo, and seen clips online with the vimeo logo on it but had no experience with it.

When I select “Add to render queue” in the export settings I can select to multiplex the video and audio however when I click this, then click render, it errors out and wont let me render the file.
Is there any other options?? Anything at all???

Thanks for your response Dave.
As I have only applied filters and effects via adjustments layers in AE, I could import the video files as a different format if I convert them first and then export again.
Do you have any suggestions?
Should I convert the MPEG into another format then import into AE?
Will this solve my High-Res, Small size, single video/audio file dilemma?
Cheers

I tried using the settings above but it didnt work.
Also, when I get the footage into ppro, I click “Ignore Alpha Channel” is this the right thing to do?
Also, by exporting as “straight” it actually distorted the animation.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
I did a doco about a year ago where I had someone else do the titles and they achieved this without having to key out the black…

Thanks for your response. I have tried deleting the cache files but unfortunately that does not fix the problem.
Any other ideas??
