Quick answer: No. You can open a Motion 2.0 project in After Effects, but After Effects sees it as a piece of footage not as a comp. In other words, it would be the same as exporting your FCP timeline to a QuickTime reference movie.

Right, we finally recreated it this morning. I was getting ambiguous reports of the problem so it took a while to see it in action.
Good lesson– when reporting problems to developers, be overly specific about what behavior you’re experiencing. 🙂

Chris, let us know what you experience. So far my FCP 5 system has NO problems with our plug-ins. I do not have a Decklink yet, nor any BMD software installed, just our plug-ins on a fresh FCP 5 Studio install.

We hope to get our copy of FCP 5 soon so we can see if we’re having problems.
Hopefully we can also obtain a Decklink card as well to try to reproduce the problem. Hard to say at this point if the bug is ours or BMDs.

Could be that AE’s time base is set differently than your FCP sequence. As the other poster wrote, AE does not read timecode from the media.
