What did Adobe support say when you contacted them?

I have never used Roto (I don’t need it) but I have never heard an ill word about it. From what I understand it is very good and one of those things you really need if you’re doing roto work, I’ve read many posts praising the software. The price recently came down too, so now it is not simply affordable, now it is a steal!

It appears that there’s a demo on their web site, give it a try and let us know what you think.

December 6, 2005 at 5:51 pm in reply to: Lacie Drives stink–any other suggestions?

Naomi, you’re not the only one to have had a bad “set”. We had two out of three LaCie 500GB drives die, we replaced them with G-RAIDs. We’re happy. Many users on the FCP-L have spoke about how they also had bad drives. I heard something about 18 out of 30 dying at a major Boston-area university.

While I’m sure Walter has had very good luck with his LaCie drives, I have not had his good experience.

Oh, as to “what did LaCie say?” The first time one of my 500GB LaCies died LaCie replaced it for free– it was under warranty– but they would not attempt to recover my data. Drives are cheap, the data they contain is much more valuable. The next time I had a drive fail (so I guess it ended up being 3 out of 4 drives, I forgot about the replacement) I didn’t bother contacting LaCie, instead I contacted a G-RAID dealer.

I always keep an “imports” bin too, that’s a good move.

Check out Pro Import AE, too, it might prove useful sending Avid rough comps to AE… https://www.automaticduck.com/piae

    Can you contact us? https://www.automaticduck.com/contact/

It would be good if you zipped up your Premiere Pro project file, maybe we can import it into FCP. 🙂

There is someone on Avid-L who, against all advice (including from an Avid engineer who posted) upgraded to a Dual Core machine, and it isn’t working.

CMX 3600, one list per video track. Very little effects come in.

Also check out Pro Import FCP from Automatic Duck, it can do much more than an EDL can.
