Have you installed the new Lagarith codec package on your new system?

Assuming your project settings have a 16×9 aspect ratio (e.g. 1280 x 720),try this. In Vegas, select your event. There should be black bars on either side. Then open the pan/crop window. Place cursor over the image, then right-click and select Match Output Aspect. The image should then fill the entire frame.

January 18, 2016 at 2:45 am in reply to: Batch Region Scipt?

Given the fact that you have 9 different regions, each with differing numbers of events of different lengths, the short answer is probably “no”. Scripting add-on’s like Vegasaur have a really nice capability for creating regions that I use all of the time. E.g. create a region around 50 selected events, with a name corresponding to the “active take name”. Very easy. Then I can batch render 50 wav files or something. There is also some freeware, Timeline Tools, that I believe can create regions. What you want is really a lot more complex. Moreover, the reality is that you only have 9 regions, that could be created in less time than I took writing this post. Move the cursor to your start point, enter i, move the cursor to your end point, enter o, and then enter R, type in your name and you’re done. Pretty quick–unless I’m missing something.

You need to provide more information about your source files (screenshot from MediaInfo would be best), a screen shot of your project settings and also your timeline. If you simply copy the files from your camera’s memory card, they are usually in MTS format. Although I’ve not had a problem reading MTS files directly in Vegas from my consumer grade Sony or Panasonic cameras, it is best to convert them to m2ts using the manufacturer’s software. Another advantage, at least from Sony, is that they will combine multiple MTS files into a single file for long duration recordings.

I’ve got to believe that having two graphics cards from different manufacturers is not helping.

Unless I misread, he only reports a single video card. The AMD FX-6300 is a CPU.

Glad you got it working. Sometimes, we forget the simplest things. Unlike others, I’ve never had issues using Fraps with Vegas. Having said that, for the future, you might give the software suggested by Aaron a try, Mirilli’s Action. Does a lot more than Fraps and also, never a problem with Vegas. One of the best additions to my tool box. Good luck.

but when i try to work sony vegas on my work computer .avi files cant add on to projects so i cant work on my existing project too.

You need to make sure that the Fraps decompressor is installed on that computer. It is normally installed whenver you install Fraps. I don’t know if you can just download and install the Fraps reader codec by itself. The codec name will be “Fraps Video Decompressor” and the FOURCC code is “fps1”. Easiest thing is just to install Fraps on your work computer.

Sorry that I misunderstood your post that you do NOT have the “always high” option. I will take your warm advice and try to “read carefully” in the future. My apologies. Having said that, I still believe you need to rule out an overheating problem. As Nigel points out, The only reason I can see a why a CPU would slow down would be to protect itself. What you describe are classical symptoms of overheating which are most likely to occur when the load is 100%, e.g. during render. Being able to monitor core temperature during render will give you this information. One last quote from Nigel’s post. In closing, gaming laptops don’t make great editing systems. Something, for you to consider in the future. Hope you solve your problem. Warm regards.

January 13, 2016 at 4:19 am in reply to: .mp4 video only shows up on SV AUDIO

Most likely Vegas does not decode the video codec that is being used within that particular MP4 file. MP4 is only a container that supports many video codecs. Post a screenshot of your file using MediaInfo to confirm. If you want to use the file, you probably need to transcode it into a digital intermediate that Vegas readily accepts.

I assume if I had this option always high, it would solve the issue.

So why not keep it there and save yourself from this grief?
