It sounds as if you may have a CPU overheating problem. You need to install something like Speedfan so that you can monitor your core temperatures which will always be their greatest during rendering. In comparison, normal editing usually doesn’t take a lot of processing power.

Just received word from Vegasaur that it is indeed a bug. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the next release.

but when I record in .avi format, files has the same bugs that I had with fraps’ files.. So.. maybe I have .avi codecs “bugged”? Is there a way to “install” new .avi codecs? Or “repair” Windows’s ones?

Both Fraps and Action have their own codec. You can see if there are later versions. However, the problem may be that your system is simply not robust enough for real time 1080 avi recording. The file sizes will be much greater than recording to MP4, which translates into lots of writing to disc. If your system isn’t sufficiently robust, you may be getting lots of dropped frames. Like I said, I’ve never had problems with either Fraps or Action when recording to avi. I would try reducing the frame rate, frame size, or both and see if your recordings are then successful. If so, then you need to consider doing some upgrades to your system.

I’ve used Fraps in the past without issue, but I agree with Aaron that Mirilli’s Action is excellent–the one I currently use. Lots more options and never an issue with Vegas.

Aaron makes some very good points. Another thing to check, which had completely slipped my mind, is the card reader itself. I recall awhile back that I was using a Transcend card reader. When importing files from a Sony handycam, I was getting similar glitches and the files were just not playing right. I re-imported using a different reader and the problem went away.

Just downloaded your clip. The problem is not Vegas or your machine–it’s your source footage. From what I can tell, there are 3 bad frames. Simply zoom in on your timeline and you can see the problem. That type of glitch is reminiscent of footage taken in the early days of camcorders. In this instance, the solution is really simple–just delete those 3 frames. Since there is very little movement, the result is almost perfect. Try it. In any case, you should try to uncover the problem with your camera. In this instance, the problem was easily fixed during editing. However, for any scene with high motion content, you would most likely just have to live with it. Good luck.

  • You have a couple of options. First, there is a plug-in for Vegas (Yadif-yet another deinterlace filter). Just search “yadif for vegas”. In my view, it certainly works better than either the blend or interpolate de-interlacers included in Vegas. I’ve used it on a few occasions for 1080 60i footage in a 1080 60P project. Second, is the use of QTGMC, a bob de-interlace Avisynth filter. You would have to install and learn to use Avisynth, in conjunction with Virtualdub. The learning curve is a bit steep, but the results are much better. I routinely use QTGMC when doing restoration work with older 8mm or Hi8 video. My suggestion would be to first try the Yadif plug-in. As I recall, it is applied as a Media Fx, and you must also set the de-interlace method to None. If you’re not happy, prepare to spend some time learning Avisynth. Good luck.

works with hc x1000 UHD 50p mov… So you save my life !

Sounds like you’re making progress. Glad that I saved your life. It’s been pretty slow–you’re only the second one today. LOL. Glad its working. Perhaps you could post back a few details in terms of the number of frames you added at the head and tail. Before proceeding, I would still do comparisons between the original and the trimmed files just to make absolutely sure that it’s working properly and that your audio has remained in sync.

If you have Vegasaur, there is now a Smart-trim option that works for some formats. It uses FFMPEG to save an exact copy (no re-rendering) of only the portions of the original footage that are defined by events on the timeline. There is an option to add frames to both the head and tail (recommended). Here is a thread on the Vegas Pro forum that may be of interest to you. https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/showmessage.asp?messageid=936903 It might be worthwhile if during the first pass, you are doing just rough cuts editing and only want to save those parts for final editing. I’d certainly give it a try to see if it works for you Panasonic footage.

Vegasaur (https://vegasaur.com/Vegasaur) has a demote marker option to convert regular markers to media markers.

Good tip, except it doesn’t work for me, even for wav and m2ts files. Guess I need to contact Vegasaur support. Once working, that would be really useful.
