Thanks, I’ll give it a go.
>> clip (as per what the guys at Ripple suggest)
Can you point me to this Ripple tutorial?

There are some really good things about it to praise, and a lot of the things it is being slammed for … I don’t need.

I do a weekly 30 minute broadcast which comes off a live mix from 3 cameras. The original footage is usually about 40-50 minutes long and after colour correction, I just drop it on the timeline and listen to it for places to edit and cut.
The timeline is a pre-made project with the opener piece already in place and the ending at exactly the right timing.
But while I am listening, I might notice that it needs a pre-made promo (Title made in Motion) dropped on the timeline. or perhaps a title needs shifting along a bit. In FCPX the timeline does not stop playing while titles are dropped on or moved, which makes the whole process much quicker than it was in version 7 which would stop playing as soon as you tried to do anything.
But like you, I would like a scrolling timeline.Cheers

oh the joy … the very thought of a scrolling timeline.
I will say this though, it is bliss to be able to watch a timeline and drop promo clips and other things on to it as it plays without missing a beat. I couldn’t do that in 7.Cheers

Thanks
I’ll give it a goSince tried raising the transparency from 8% to 25% and it is now about the same after exporting as the 8% before export. Great, at least I know it now works and I can allow for the difference

I have tried using this effect but I must be doing something wrong because the effect works great on-screen in FCPX, but when you export out the file, the background (enlarged, blurred, faded) is missing and instead you are left with just black borders on either side of the 4×3 footage.
So here is what I am doing!
Go into project bowser, click on project properties; the spanner, change to amorphic 720×576
1 Place 4×3 footage on timeline
2 Place duplicate footage above as a connected clip
3 Click on bottom clip -click spatial conform and Fill
4 drop on fake 16×9 blur footage effect on bottom clip
5 Adjust to make it look required
6 Share / Export MediaCheers

July 27, 2011 at 9:46 am in reply to: Time requirements & Marker limitations, any ideas?Well I do edit a weekly show and I have just finished my first one on X.
This is what I did ….
I put all my regular stuff like the opener; promo-type motion titles at regular intervals on the primary storyline; and then the closing piece, keeping the whole thing to the correct length.
Next I made this into a nest (or compound clip or whatever you want to call it)
Next I promoted this off the primary storyline.
This is now the master template which I will duplicate each week. Once the template is correct I won’t edit in that master project, but will duplicate it.
This method works because you can align up to to end of the compound clip that “floats” above the primary storyline. You can turn it off if you don’t want to see it while you are editing, by pressing “V”However, there is a drawback!
You must place any new titles above the compound clip, not above your program that you are editing on the primary storyline. Annoying but true. If you don’t, you will find that you can’t edit the text!

The reason I want to do this is to watch the audio line at the same time as I listen for possible edit points. I want to visually see if the audio is peaking or needs adjusting in some way at the same time.

Hi
I’ve done the PayPal thing.
What happens now?
Is it just because of the time difference between our 2 countries that I haven’t heard anything or did I miss something?Cheers
