Frame rate has traditionally been the descriptor.
But with HD, someone in the manufacturing world decided to start playing games and use Field Rate as the descriptor. As in 1080i / 59.94. that’s 60 FIELDS per second.
Completely idiotic but not my place to tell a manufacturer what to do.

Ditto. Now we keep finding reasons to download and use some apps we’ve never touched before like InDesign and Acrobat Pro.

[Mark Franklin] “What have they done to make Premiere CS6 handle HD better that CS5? Is there really that much difference?
“It’s not just HD. It’s all the codecs and flavors that have been added since CS5 shut down production. CS5 is optimized for whatever codecs / frame rates were in production I guess two years or so ago now when it was stopped. So whatever has come along since then is now optimized in the newer versions.
Then CC went under the hood and made HUGE improvements in just about everything from media transfer to speed of the application to the codecs and formats. When we switch from CS6 to CC it’s like we’ve completely changed computers. It’s that much of a difference just in that one jump, can’t imagine what the jump is like from CS5 to CC.

I hate to be like this, but CS5 is like using ancient technology compared to CS6 or CC. You’re not going to get very much realtime performance with that system.
You didn’t mention your media array. That’s even more important when you switch to HD to have high data rates from the media playback.

We have a strict internship program via a school and it’s all set up through the school program. That’s the only way we’ll do internships here. We don’t “bring in interns to help on a project.” It’s a school credit and that’s it.

[Andy Field] “Also by all accounts – the creative cloud app is a mess – getting lots of failed updates and am now afraid to update critical files (premiere and after effects) having read nightmare stories of messing with the program and then getting locked out of using the apps altogether… any resources to fix thise issues?
“Where? Other than the issues when Creative Cloud App first launched, we’re not having any update issues with the Creative Cloud aspect on 6 systems here at my shop and my system at home.

I don’t use SpeedGrade simply due to the DPX workflow which is clunky in my opinion. It’s getting better but not there yet.
[Jim Watt] “We don’t have the luxury/budget of going out to Resolve for a CC, though it would be great. We finance everything ourselves and therefore are beholding to no one, but of course “pay the price”.”
Resolve is free. All you need is a good reference monitor.

Yeah, it’s been used on feature films for about 30 years now. We use it for everything broadcast here. Looks is only used for corporate stuff and non broadcast sizzles.
