Um, I don’t see any question about HD or 2K in his query. He’s just asking how to make his DV PAL footage playback in real-time in an 8bit timeline. CineWave is the only answer. Or, recapture all the DV as 8bit.
I guess I’m confused by your mention of uncompressed HD and 2K in this thread.

6 Drives!?! Oh my word, I’m surprised the thing plays back at all. Your media is too spread out for any reliable playback. I daisy chain 2 drives at the most for media playback.
At this point I would simply export a self-contained movie of what you’re trying to lay out to a single drive and do it that way. As long at the drive you’re putting the movie file to is not badly fragmented, it should playback ok.

What do you mean by disappointing? I get three streams of DVCPro HD with my FW 800 array with realtime color correction and much more with my Fibrechannel array. What’s the system doing that disappointing and did you test this system with HDV before your ordered it?

What graphics card are you running? Motion relies very heavily on the graphics card, not just the CPU or RAM. I have the nVidia Ultra 6800 which makes Motion smoke.

Have you rendered the timeline? You have three cameras with three different framerates, so I’d make sure that the entire timeline is rendered before trying to play it out.
Yes, it’s a legit warning. You can go into your User Preferences and turn it off to make the timeline continue to play. BUT, if there are dropped frames during the layback, they will be on the master.

Oh, I was just going by his original post:

So there I read that he was using PAL DV footage and then you suggested he put that footage into an uncompressed timeline. So he won’t get RT playback no matter the harddrive with that combination unless he owns a CineWave.

Nope because you have mis-matched clips and timeline. Your footage is DV PAL and your timeline is uncompressed 8bit. You’ll need to recapture all your footage to the 8bit codec to playback in realtime. If your timeline doesn’t match your capture settings, you’ll always have to render your footage, no matter how fast your drives are.

Nope. Quicktime Pro has nothing to do with any functionality within FCP.
could be your cable is bad, or the Firewire port on your device or the Mac went bad. Be sure to never connect or disconnect anything from the Mac when that device is powered up.
