June 7, 2005 at 8:04 pmDid you re-install FCP after updating to Tiger? You really should re-install all pro-apps after an OS upgrade.

June 7, 2005 at 8:15 pmGo to Apple’s Site and in the Support section search for “Uninstall Final Cut Pro 4” There’s a whole article on how to do it.

Nope. Quicktime Pro has nothing to do with any functionality within FCP.
could be your cable is bad, or the Firewire port on your device or the Mac went bad. Be sure to never connect or disconnect anything from the Mac when that device is powered up.

June 8, 2005 at 4:45 pmThe odd part is that i can capture fine with imovie…
In FCP 4.5 I have machine control in my capture window but no audio or video. It shows as “missing apple ntsc…” I went ahead and installed quicktimePro as well.
Very fustrating!!! Any thoughts?? -

June 9, 2005 at 12:32 amSorry that you haven’t gotten an answer to your problem. I’ve got the same one!!! I’m using a Sony DSR-11. What are you using?

June 9, 2005 at 2:17 pmSon of a bitch, I thought Windows was some crazy shit, but I’m never gonna figure out this Mac OS. I had the same problem with FCP 4.5 HD after upgrading to Tiger and QT 7. I’m running a dual 1.8 G5 with no additional cards, just for the record. Well, after searching all over for an answer, I found one on the Apple FCP forum. I downloaded and installed Quick Time 7 and viola, I have video!? Now, if someone can explain to me how Quick Time, which isn’t running, could prevent FCP from seeing my video deck (a Sony DSR-11, by the way), and yet allow Imovie to use the deck, and THEN by reinstalling THE SAME PROGRAM, everything suddenly starts to work, I probably wouldn’t be able to understand the answer anyway!!!!

June 9, 2005 at 5:32 pmI had pretty much the exact same problems…FCP 5 was seeing my drives, but not the camera plugged into the same FireWire hub.
Downloaded QT7, re-installed it, and voila…it works!
Wonder if the QT7 included in the FCP Studio package is buggy or something.
In any case, the Cow wins another one for the little guy!
