So far every past version of Resolve has allowed very solid database upgrades. Also, I’ve never had version compatibility issues importing exported projects from past versions to new versions. I don’t see why 9 would be any different.

You could throw a window on the white area and hit highlight – scopes will show only the visible area.

Wouldn’t you want to go by scopes for this one? Look at channel convergence in the waveform?

That works pretty well – I’ve been doing grain that way for a few projects with good results. The only problem is, you can’t take advantage of it when doing any kind of roundtrip as clips render in source mode and grain isn’t baked in. But as a fast way to render a track of grain in overlay mode on finished footage, Resolve works well

DNxHD quicktime support certainly makes Premiere on PC easier.

It’s more of for working with XML workflow and cameras that don’t embed reel names correctly (5d the biggest offender).
In Resolve, an XML clip that comes in without a reel name is unstable, subject to auto re-conforming if I add new footage in. Not to mention, if it doesn’t conform, I can’t even tell what the clip is supposed to be if I navigate to it in the timeline.
All I’m really talking about is being able to chose whether I see the “reel” field or the “filename” field of my XML in the “Conform EDL” box.

Rendering audio, good speed conversion, and working with clip filenames as opposed to reels for conform are my top 3 hopes.
Add alpha channel reading for easy title and graphic support and I can easily finish right out of Resolve.

I think this is the problem – dynamic should be added first, then make the move after that.

I have never used Mac Drive on a RAID before – in fact, I believe they just added the support for apple software raid in this release.
So far it’s been really stable.
There is also something called exFAT, which doesn’t have the file size limitations of FAT32 and is read/writeable by both Mac and Windows.

I have a windows partition on my Mac Pro, and an Apple Raid software raid0 (4 drives)
With the new Mac Drive for windows, I am getting 420 MB/s read write on Windows, which is exactly what I get on the Mac. So, at least synthetic test-wise the performance seems to hold up.
