For what it’s worth, it seems fine on Windows.

  • Yeah, my performance drops as well. What I’d be curious is – what would make it faster? CUDA gpu, GUI gpu, or CPU?

    I’m running a GT120/GTX470 combo in a Mac Pro.

One thing you can do is put a static keyframe at the beginning of each shot, just on the node you’re tracking. That way, when you reposition the window at the start of the track, it won’t affect the other shots.

The other thing you can do is build the grade aside from the track, then batch unlink (or copy grades to local as it’s now called) and each shot will then not be linked to the others, you can track them independently.

Felt this on both dual and single GPU setups

Thought this was IP as well – but then used the panel with Baselight for FCP and experienced no lag. Definitely something on Resolve’s end. I wonder if this will ever be improved though.

I second this – this would be an amazing and powerful feature. Is it technically possible?

I’d like to throw a bit of a defense for the Wave – ultimately at this price point I have found it to be a faster instrument. I have personally found the trackballs to be less smooth (plastic, vs the metal bearings on the wave). The luminance rings are nice and smooth on the Artist Color, but the resistance is inconsistent, at least on the units I’ve tried (eg: my highlight wheel is slightly looser than the midtone one). The loss of 3 rotary knobs is extremely felt, especially when working with qualifiers. And the buttons are tiny and squishy – they might present themselves more sophisticated than the click clack of the Wave, but the big loud buttons felt faster to work with.

Also, I have personally found the ergonomics of the wave absolutely brilliant. I ended up trading my wave for Artist Color because my Wave had the problem with wheels not tracking at higher speeds (a problem I know they fixed in later units), but have since come to regret it for all the aforementioned reasons. So, if anyone’s wanting to sell their wave or trade for the Color let me know!

  • Another vote for both of those

and further, turn off GUI video completely during playback as an option. Sometimes the playback lag is really distracting when watching something cutty.

Guys from Adobe have told me it’s just not something they support well yet. Even in their own workflow, when you send to Speedgrade it just bakes a DPX of the timeline.

But you don’t have to Scene Detect optically (manually). If you export an EDL of your timeline from Premiere, you can load that into your scene detect window and it will use the EDL cut points to slice up your export. Should be dead on accurate and instant. Works best if all your cuts are on 1 track, of course.
