Just had to deal with this last week for the first time. Funny, if I hadn’t seen this thread I wouldn’t have IDed the problem this quickly. Thanks y’all!

It’s funny, when people ask me how long the conform will take on their project I now reply “well it depends on whether we start after DaVinci 8 is out or not.” I hope it’s not delayed!

Although I wonder if, as a workaround, you can use colortrace to paste one sequence’s grades to another.

I agree, I always wished grade versions would be preserved when making a sequence with handles – it’s a pain in the butt trying to re-set everything

You could re-import the EDL. If you were grading with global versions everything should be the same.

You could also select create session with handles and simply choose 0 frame handles too.

Beware I think in both these circumstances, all active versions will be set to default

You can also create a new grade version for the shot you need zoomed.

Sure, I submitted it to the forums, so if you go to “Forum” from within the app you can download it there. It’s just called “Resolve” by Anonymous

Keep in mind that I’ve assigned a bunch of shortcuts within OSX to all the functions that don’t have them by default. You’ll have to spend some time making sure the ones in app match the ones you have.

Hmm interesting. Some of the things you mentioned might be changing with 8. Multi-layer, overlays (from the tidbits on this forum I gathered some alpha channel’s supported), de-noise is supported, with alpha you could add a grain layer that’s pre-made back in.

So they’re making gains in those shortcomings, for sure.

Very cool program. There’s a small lag but I think I’m going to try it out instead of the G13 and see how it goes.

Here’s the layout I came up with for just now:

No, didn’t know about it. Do now and I will be trying it out!

  • Ah, so it sounds like you’re just using the wrong TC format like Chris Kenny was suggesting. Try (I guess just for experiment at this point):

    Clear all media from pool
Under Master Red Decoder Settings (source) switch timecode to Absolute
Under browse, hit refresh on your R3D directory so it re-searches the TC
    Import all

Then try conforming with your original EDL. It should work.
