Redgiant Unmult is one of the Best way to remove black bg.
But make sure your flare size is not more than the Layer Size as it will make boundaries which will create problem even if you remove black bg.
Best way is to make a new comp with large size, add flare to it and then remove black bg.

You can also use Adobe Bridge for applying Effects and Presets.
The advantage is that you can see how a particular effect work without applying it right in the Bridge window.

Check whether the motion blur is enabled or not.
Sometimes because of motion blur layers appear fuzzy.

you can save the frame in two different ways:
1. Save Frame As> File
2. Save Frame As> Photoshop LayersWhen you choose file, you can manipulate the export settings like resolution, compression etc as it will render out through Render Queue.
Check your Render setting and output Module whether you are using right settings or not.
the Second way will render the file as Photoshop layers with the default settings of Composition.

Try this:
1. Apply 3D stroke to a solid.
2. Make a path using pen tool(Try to use 3 or 4 four vertices) .
3. Go to Repeater, Enable it and then change settings as Required.
4. Animate the mask Path and all stroke will follow the same movement.Vishesh Arora

It seems that the shadows are forming where the two layers overlap each other.
If you Turn off the Receive shadows of the layers which are below the top layers, the shadows will not be there.

Trapcode particular has some ready made presets which you can use as sparks. You can use them from Adobe Bridge.
Got to Animation> Browse Presets
This will open Adobe Bridge.
Now go to Trapcode Particular ffx and choose weldblue or weldgold or something else that resembles to sparks. You can also manipulate the setting of presets after applying them
