There is a better way.
1. Make a Null object and Make 3D.
2. Move the anchor point in Y-axis say 200 px.
3. Move the Anchor point at the center of the comp.
4. Make a Star Shape using Shape Layers.
5. Now Make a Text layer and place it above the star.
6. Precomp both Text and Shape layer and make it a 3D layer.
7. Place the Precomp above the Null object. Parent the Precomp to the Null.6. Now you can animate the rotation to create the desired look.
I have created an example:

Are you using the right settings for rendering?
Go to Output Module Settings and Choose RGB + Alpha under Channels section.

The problem is I already started to work on the image and used the HD DVC PRO 1080 (1.5) setting as I followed advice from a link online for 1080 x 1920 HD.The problem is because both settings have different PAR.
Preset PAR
DVC PRO 1080 (1.5)
1080 x 1920 HD 1(Square Pixels)Solution:
If the Final output would be 1080 x 1920 HD then create a new comp with HDTV 1080 Preset and drop your footage in Timeline. It should look fine.

Motion blur and a little bit of distortion with Bulge effect (Effect>Distort>Bulge)would help.

It still looks a bit fake. You have any idea how to improve it and make it look more real?
Its pretty difficult to give an exact suggestion without seeing what is happening in the shot. But if you want to improve the composite part then you can try adding motion blur which gives it more organic and natural feel.
Duplicate the plate(your footage) and crop the window. So that there will be two layers one with the window and another without it. Use a sky footage or a still to use it as BG. Put the Bird stock footage between the two.
Finally go for CC to make the shot look natural.

Are you talking of native 3D Camera Tracker of AE?
If yes then you should know that Camera Tracker depends on many factors including parallax. It won’t give you good track if there is a little or no parallax in the scene.
