  • how to prepare an image for HD Video and use in after effects

    Hello
I want to know the correct settings and pixel aspect ratio to use in preparing an image for HD video. I want to then work on this image in After Effects and eventually export it as a HD video. I am confused what aspect ratio I should use for HD video. The problem is I already started to work on the image and used the HD DVC PRO 1080 (1.5) setting as I followed advice from a link online for 1080 x 1920 HD. In Photo Shop when viewing the image I have the pixel aspect ratio clicked on so the image looks like the correct aspect ratio, however when I import this to AE the image does not look right. It looks squashed. As I have already invested some time in creating the image in Photo Shop I want to know if I should have chosen different settings for my image ( HDTV 1080p – square pixels) in the first place and if I now have to start all over again!!! Or can I change the settings of the image I have been working on?
Thank you! I would really appreciate any advice

The problem is because both settings have different PAR.

    Preset PAR

    DVC PRO 1080 (1.5)
    1080 x 1920 HD 1(Square Pixels)

    Solution:

If the Final output would be 1080 x 1920 HD then create a new comp with HDTV 1080 Preset and drop your footage in Timeline. It should look fine.

    Vishesh
My thanks for your response and advice.
Can I ask do I downgrade the resolution and quality of the image I made in Photo Shop by changing the PAR in After Effects? Do you think there is any benefit in starting from scratch again and making my image in Photoshop with the 1080 x 1920 HD 1(Square Pixels) preset format! I am concerned that somewhere I am effecting the image quality if I change the PAR or am I mistaken?
    Thank you

    It won’t affect the quality.

Dave has already explained this before. Check this thread :
