Thank you very much. You need to write an instruction manual filled with only “how to” instructions, without all the fluff that’s in these manuals. That worked perfect for even 1.0.1.

    Thanks Mr. Smith,
I tried the flicker filter and the de-interlace filter that fixes the problems in photoshop. But I still got the same rastery outcome.

I’m adding a behavior now in my motion project and trying to figure out how to key frame it in the same way I would on FCP. Just really rushed here and not a lot of time to sift through hundreds of pages in the manual or within the help function on the program. So far doing that I’ve found everything that you CAN do with motion, but no instructions HOW TO accomplish what I need 🙂

    Thanks again for anything,
    Vinnie

  • Budgets have been tight for upgrades in the media department. I’m still having to use Motion 1.0.1 by the way. We’re about to update finally.

    Thanks

Here’s an example from the video from 2 spots (the only spots) it occurs.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RttdXE0KpAA

There’s an example, and the rastery is not because of youtube… that’s how it behave while being played back.

I’ll check out Motion, I’ve never used it for this purpose, but I’ll see what I can do. Thanks again.

October 31, 2008 at 12:11 am in reply to: Snow Plugin ?

When I open up the snow emitter in motion, I can mess with the timing to make it last 60 seconds. And the snow is against a transparent background, which is the way I want to render it. I want to drop it on a 30 second video I’m doing. I don’t want to render the full 30 second video with cuts and graphics, then bring it into motion to render again with the snow emitter.

Like in Live Type, is there a way to render a movie with a transparent background so I can just drop the snow on top of the video on the FCP time line?

Touching on capturing from a camera.

We have 2 JVC HD110 cameras, and 1 GL1 from long ago. We still use the GL1 for jobs that would be dirty (city work), when we don’t want to dirty the JVCs.

When I bring the tape from the GL1 into the JVC BR HD50 deck, it does not like the tape at all. Audio drop outs, digital dirt, pixelation, etc. etc. But when I just capture from the GL1 none of those problems happen.

What about “Crossing the streams?” – Ghostbusters.

I know this might be a master of the obvious question but I get nervous when I’m about to make a big purchase.

Hypothetical.. I buy a Sony camera (any kind that’s up to date). Would it be best to get a Sony VTR? Or does it really matter? In my own mind I say yes . . don’t cross the streams. If I get a Sony Camera, I will want a Sony DECK with Sony Tapes.

At work they purchased JVC cameras and decks, but they order Panasonic tapes. I have no problems most of the time, but every once in a while I get digital drop out and I wonder if it’s because we’re “crossing the streams.”

I’ve read a few other posts, but I mean without having to use any 3rd party programs. Is there anything inside FCP 4.5?

I don’t have paying clients yet. That’s the fear I have from starting. I still have a full time job so it would not be a super firghtful jump. But I also could not charge 1400 dollars for a wedding video. I would feel guilty for doing so. Even family members I talk to tell me VINNIE JUST DO IT!!! “IF THEY HAVE WEDDINGS HAS BIG AS THEY DO , THEY AREN’T GOING TO MISS 1500 DOLLARS TRUST US!” Talking about some of the ritzier areas here in the Metroplex.
