You can do it with live text or outlined text.
Select your object(s) and go to Effect/3D/Extrude & Bevel.
Set the rotations to 0,0,0.
Crank the perspective up real high, and click preview.Note: I had to revert to CS2, and there seems to be some kind of quirk where all of the perspective components don’t display until one or two of the rotation axis settings are greater than zero.
If you are trying to create a perspective that actually goes all of the way back to the focal point, I think you would actually need to draw it.
Or you could try blending (Object/Blend) your full size text with text that has been reduced to near-zero. Set the blend to Specified Steps: 200 or something.
Just a few ideas

September 14, 2009 at 4:08 am in reply to: Live trace – can you limit the trace to parts of a bitmap image? The trace applies to the entire raster image.
You could duplicate the raster, trace it, expand it, than just grab the vector objects that you need to add to the original raster.Depending on the complexity of the shapes, maybe you could draw the portions that you need?

Is your source also PAL Widescreen? Do your project settings also show square pixels?
Your Source, Project Settings, and Export Settings should all match.
If you are transforming the frame size of the source, you may need to render the preview prior to export.Vince

August 21, 2009 at 4:15 pm in reply to: Color Transfer problem from Illustrator to Photoshop!Did you ever solve this?
There are potentially a number of settings that could cause a color issue.
I’d first try to paste the artwork from the ‘bad’ ai file into the ‘good’ ai file, and save it as a copy. This would, at least, ensure that the ai document settings are the same for both files.Or, try copying the background object from the good file into the bad file, so you can add it’s color to the swatches palette and replace the fill of the bad object.

In Illustrator, you would need to mask the shape with a vector path or a B&W alpha.
Try drawing a mask around the cat with the Pen Tool. Make sure to close the path. than select both the picture and the path (the path must be layered above the image) and select Object/Clipping Mask/Make.
Than the 3D effect should work.Vince

Try opening the raster in Photoshop and change the resolution to 72 ppi. Make sure you deselect ‘Resample’ when changing the resolution.

August 21, 2009 at 3:42 pm in reply to: filling color in layered objects (a few circiles on top of each other)I’m using CS2. It looks like maybe your artwork was outside the artboard, so the only thing I see its the text.
Are your circles vector objects. If so, select one of the circles, than click ‘Fill’ at the bottom of the tool bar. Than double-click fill to open the color picker.
Or you could use color swatches from the color palette, just select your circle object, make sure ‘Fill’ is active (not Stroke), and select a fill color. You can export a jpeg, or open the AI file with photoshop to create the jpeg.
Or, you could copy and paste the logo into a photoshop document as a Smart Object.Vince
